Chair Slipcovers

Being that it's fall......and I found a great deal.......

I decided to slipcover all my dining room chairs.

BEFORE
I love the off white for summer

AFTER
A fun change for fall/winter

They fit like a glove so I'm thrilled.

I love that the beautiful wood legs are still exposed.

Finished up my change with a simple "all natural" pumpkin which I placed in my large green bowl.  This is the extent of my fall decorating this year!

On a side note, the tapestry that you see on the wall was purchased on our 2nd wedding anniversary (we just had our 21st) in Fredricksburg, TX.  My husband and I went away to a bed and breakfast and found it in a little antique store all crumpled up on the floor.  We fell in love with the colors and textures and decided it would be beautiful stretched and framed.  We plan on passing it on to one of our girls someday.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I should have my new website up and running soon!

Fresh look for the fall season

A couple weeks ago, I heard from a client that I worked with about 4 years ago.  They are a great couple and own a law firm here in Southlake.  We've had fun together over the years because I helped them with their home and then went on and redecorated their law office.  A few years later their business really grew and they moved to a larger space in Southlake and I redid that space too.  It was a great process and I've loved seeing their business and family flourish.

She told me in her e-mail that they wanted to do some minor revamping in their home and asked me to find something for their niche outside their bedroom.

This is the niche BEFORE

This is what I put together and placed in her niche - AFTER

I loved the uniqueness of the vase that I found and the simplicity of the flower buds.  Scale and simplicity is key to making your accessories stunning, elegant, classic and noticed by all.

I played with all the fall colors too before I took the vase over to their home and thought it looked amazing with these beautiful burnt orange fall colors.  My client doesn't have any of this color in her home but it would be great for a fall arrangement anytime she wanted to change the florals out.

Love changing it up!

Do you need to change things up?  Are you bored with the "typical" arrangements out there?  Call me and I can help you revamp your style.

You are invited to a doggie birthday party

Ava turned 2 yesterday.

Yes, I'm a crazy mom and I surprised the kiddos with a mini-birthday party for our doggie princess after school yesterday.   They all got in the car when I picked them up and I immediately said "You are cordially invited to a birthday party for Ava."  Wow, you should have heard the noise in the car.  A never forget moment....

We got Ava 2 years ago because we needed a new skip in our step.  My husband had a terrible motorcycle accident and was bed bound for about 6 weeks.  He was starting to go stir crazy and the mood in the air was pretty dismal.  He decided that since he was at the house all day and was feeling kinda lonely, he could train a puppy....Hmmmmm.....he could train a puppy, bed bound?

We all agreed and here we are today 2 years later celebrating the joy that she has given our family.  We still have our challenges but most of all she's wonderful.

I thought it would be fun to have a few goodies at our party.  Edible and non-edible.
These are Ava's.  YUM!

Aren't these paw treats adorable?

These are ours treats.  Can't have a birthday party without cake?  I did restrain myself and didn't buy balloons (wink wink)

Curly cheese puffs - our new favorite.

The guest of honor was dressed in her best for the occasion.

Gotta balance the cupcake with something healthy.

What a realized about the party is that it REALLY wasn't about AVA, even though we do love her.  It was about a mommy that loves to surprise her kiddos when they least expect it and loved hearing their shrieks of excitement!  They were even more excited when they heard that their cousins got to come home with us too!  There will be a day when they think this kind of thing is corny so I'm going to treasure moments like these!  Grandma was off yesterday as well so she came and enjoyed the fun which was a treat!

What a good sport, the girls made her a dress and they had to try it on for the festivities.

These are the simple little things that make life awesome!  Celebrate spur of the moment time with your family,
 believe me it's worth it!

Dreaming about my courtyard project

This weekend I've been dreaming about my next house project!

As you remember my husband built a Gazebo by our pool.  Go here to read the post.

I love it when I get to do projects at OUR house!

Now that the weather is getting cooler, we (my husband) is more motivated to build my courtyard entrance!  We are going to make it look like the above picture.

I'll keep you posted as the project progresses!

Drapery Elegance

I'm working on several drapery orders right now.  My office is filled with gorgeous fabrics and trims and I'm loving every minute of it.

These colors are so soothing.

Love what wide trim does to drapery panels.

Stripes always make a room feel bigger.

These colors are my absolute favorite!

Off to the workroom to do my drapery math!

My Eclectic Imaginary Room

Pandamonium in Grapevine

About a week ago, I was so inspired by these wall panels.  Old doors, cut and painted to look distressed.  I thought they were incredibly whimsical and colorful, especially against the pink wall.

These draperies were such a compliment to the panels and I wanted to bag them up right then and there!  I especially love the vintage hardware they are hanging from.

Later on that week, I came across this rug and I immediately thought it would really look amazing with the panels and the draperies!  Love when that happens.

So....I decided since my room felt almost complete, I needed to finish it.  I've created an imaginary room for a teenager or young adult (in my head of course).

Here we go!

Anthropologie.com

Got an e-mail today from Anthropologie.com with all their new items.
This couch will fit in my room perfectly.  Who wouldn't love this?

A set of these pillows will be PERFECT on the couch!  Brings out the gold beautifully.

Ebay.com

Imagine this French Cane Bed in the room?

Etsy.com

This dresser has such an elegance about it.

I'd paint the bed and the dresser so they both match!

Anthropologie.com

Knobs always make a dresser look so polished and add style!  These look especially artsy!

West Elm

One of these Duvet's from West Elm would be fantastic on the French bed.  Either color would work with my color scheme!

Now layer with a couple of these firework pillows and the bed will be divine.

Every room has to be finished off with a little "peace."

Today I found this oil painting at a thrift store, can you believe it?  Yes, I know, it's an imaginary room but I just had to have it!  Especially since it was $4.00.

A sophisticated lamp for the bedside!  The black shade is so very classy.

Ebay.com

and a French crystal chandelier will be the focal point in the entire room!

and......my eclectic "Imaginary Room" is finished!

PEACE OUT and have a great holiday weekend!
